것ざっくり
삼겹살 (sam·gyeop·sal) is pork belly, the cut under the loin, sliced thick and grilled on a plate set into the table. Visit Korea's dish page gives the two dips, chilli-and-soybean paste or sesame oil with salt, says to wrap it in lettuce with garlic, and calls it the meat of the work dinner.

It is the restaurant price everyone watches. The Korea Consumer Agency's 참가격 (cham·ga·gyeok) survey puts the Seoul average at 21,321 won for 200 g in September 2026; News Wa noted on 10 August 2026 that this was about 4.3% above a year earlier, while supermarket belly sat at 2,596 won per 100 g, so the same 200 g at home costs about a quarter of the restaurant portion.
3 March is 삼겹살데이 (sam·gyeop·sal·de·i), three-three day. CU sold 300 g of Korean belly or shoulder for 6,600 won in the week up to it in 2026, and said the day has replaced its old 삼각김밥 day since 2023 (ZDNet Korea, 23 February 2026).
