치맥 (chi·maek) is fried chicken with beer: at the 치킨집 (chi·kin·jip), on a delivery app at home, or on a mat by the river. The word is 치킨 plus 맥주.

The chicken is the expensive half. Hankyung checked brand sites and delivery apps on 23 January 2026: Kyochon's Honey Combo and Red Combo were 26,000 won for delivery at many Seoul franchises, and Cheogajip's Supreme yangnyeom and boneless half-and-half and Nene's Vietnamese hot spice were 27,000 won. Add Kyochon's delivery fee of about 4,000 won and one bird is close to 30,000 won. Franchises now let each shop set its own delivery price, which the paper calls 이중가격제 (i·jung·ga·gyeok·je), two prices for one menu. One office worker in the piece remembered Friday-night 치맥 at about 20,000 won and said she now hesitates.
Daegu holds a festival for the pairing. The 2026 Daegu Chimac Festival ran 1 to 5 July around Duryu Park, admission free, with stages running 18:00 to 22:00; Visit Korea says it was picked for Korea's Local 100 list in 2026.

In a 치킨집, order by the bird: plain, sauced, or 반반 (ban·ban), half and half, which is on Cheogajip's menu as a boneless version. On a delivery app, check the shop's own price first; since 2026 it can sit above the counter price.
