하동관 (ha·dong·gwan) opened in 1939 in 수하동 and moved to 명동9길 12, where the third generation now runs it (Visit Seoul; Seoul city's 오래가게 list). It serves 곰탕 and 수육 and nothing else, in brass bowls, from 07:00 to 16:00 Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday and on the day of and after 설날 and 추석. There is no dinner service and it shuts when the day's soup is gone.
More about it
The Michelin Guide's entry, which lists it in the lowest price band, describes the bowl: several cuts of beef including brisket, 내포 and 양 tripe, rice already in the broth, chopped spring onion on top and Seoul-style 깍두기 on the side, with extra meat or 내포 for a surcharge. You pay before you eat, cards are accepted, and the guide warns of queues and shared tables at breakfast and lunch. Visit Seoul notes it was selected for the 2025 Michelin Guide.
