것The deal

명동교자 (myeong·dong·gyo·ja) is the noodle house founded in 1966. Its own site says the main restaurant opened in 1976, and that in 2026 the business moved its headquarters into the newer building by 명동역 that had opened in 2024, merging the two into one 420-seat restaurant at 퇴계로 129. It opens 10:30 to 21:00 and closes only two days a year, New Year's Day and 추석. Visit Seoul still lists the old address, 명동10길 29, and puts it 183 metres from 명동역 exit 8.

More about it

The menu is short: 칼국수, 비빔국수 and 만두, in Visit Seoul's listing, with prices in the 10,000-won range. The soup is the original 명동칼국수, a broth from long-simmered chicken bones under hand-cut noodles. Visit Seoul's page carries a CatchTable link for joining the queue by app.

하는 법How to

Exit 8 of 명동역 (line 4); the queue is the sign. Order 칼국수 and one bowl is a meal.
