In autumn 2026 it is the dessert people queue for, and the convenience chains went after it: GS25 made a pizza-topped 설기 with the dessert chain 설빙, CU a pumpkin 인절미 and a dark-chocolate mochi, 7-Eleven injeolmi and black-sesame tteok. CU said its rice-cake sales were up 96.5 per cent this year, 7-Eleven 62 per cent, and one paper counted purchases by under-twenties up 45 per cent in a year.
