The building was a chemical factory, according to a 2020 magazine report, remodelled into two U-shaped three-storey blocks with a garden and pavilion between them. The third floor is 천상가옥 (cheon·sang·ga·ok), a café under a transparent roof, which Visit Seoul names as the top-floor cafeteria and event space.
