도프레코드 (do·peu·re·ko·deu) started at 종로 154 in 1976 and still runs the Jongno shop from 09:30 to 19:30, closing only for the holidays, with Korean releases, film soundtracks and 국악. The Mapo shop at 독막로 211, fourth floor, is the rock one: hard rock and metal on LP, CD and cassette, music books and merchandise from acts like Queen and Oasis, as Bravo described it in 2020.
Hours are 13:00 to 21:00 with Tuesdays off, on both the 2020 article and the shop's Naver page. The shop's own directions put it about ten minutes on foot from Daeheung or Gwangheungchang on line 6, or Sogang University on the Gyeongui-Jungang line, in the building with the CU convenience store on the ground floor. Pets are welcome.
Take the lift to the fourth floor. It is east of the Sangsu end of Hongdae rather than in the middle of it, so pair it with Jebi Dabang or Club Evans on the way back. Instagram is doperecordskorea.
