뚝도시장 (ttuk·do·si·jang) is the market the district office lists at 성수이로 32-15 with 139 shops and a 먹자골목 (meok·ja·gol·mok), a food alley, where the traditional dishes are cheap. The merchants' office answers on 02-464-4426.
The city's cycling column from 2014 gives the history: the market opened in 1962 and was once counted among Seoul's three big markets, then shrank after a large discount store opened next to it in 2001. The column's picks were 코다리찜 (ko·da·ri·jjim), half-dried pollock in sauce, and the rice-cake mill, the 빈대떡 pancake stall and the chilli-oil shop that carry the market's name.
From Seongsu station exit 3 it is about fifteen minutes on foot, says the district office; buses 2014, 2224, 2412 and 2413 stop at 뚝도시장. If you are cycling the Han path past Seoul Forest, the market's name is painted on the path at the turn-off.
Can I get kodari-jjim for one?
A bit off if you pay cash.
