것The deal

명동예술극장 (myeong·dong·ye·sul·geuk·jang) is the theatre at 명동길 35, the stone-fronted building between the main street and the cathedral. Seoul Danurim says it ran as 명동국립극장, the National Theatre, from 1934 to 1973, and reopened as a drama house after a three-year restoration that kept the old exterior and rebuilt the inside, with a 588-seat mid-sized auditorium. 서울사랑 (June 2023) dates the reopening to June 2009 and says it is now the dedicated stage of the 국립극단, the National Theater Company.
