것The deal

티머니 (ti·meo·ni) is the card that gets you through the subway gate. The Korea Tourism Organization's transport-card page lists it for sale at convenience stores across the country (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven) and at the information desks of Seoul subway stations on lines 1 to 8, priced 3,000 to 5,000 won for the plain card depending on the design. Once loaded it pays for public transport anywhere in Korea, at shops showing the T-money logo, at expressway tolls and in subway vending machines and photo booths, and it gives a transfer discount between bus and subway.

More about it

Topping up, from T-money's own guide: in cash at any convenience store or subway station with the T-money sticker, 1,000 to 90,000 won per top-up, to a balance of 500,000 won. GS25 and CU will load your loose change onto it in 10-won units. Foreign credit cards do not top it up; only Woori-issued cards work, and only at Woori ATMs and GS25. Refunds of more than 50,000 won are handled only at T-money Town in Seoul Station (KTO).
